Services We Offer
Diagnostic Hearing Tests
These are detailed tests performed on your ears to determine the presence of a hearing loss and to provide evidence on the cause of the hearing loss. Testing helps ascertain the best management approach for the individual i.e. referral to an ENT specialist for medical management or audiological management through assistive devices such as hearing aids. LBB Audiologists assess thoroughly following international best practice guidelines, and tests include pure tone assessments and speech assessments in both quiet and noise. Your results will be explained to you in detail on the day of your appointment.
Hearing Aids
Your hearing loss and a thorough assessment of your hearing needs and lifestyle are used when recommending suitable hearing aids. LBB Audiology is an independent practice, allowing you and your audiologist to select from a wide range of top international brands with many different styles and features. Options such as Bluetooth connectivity, rechargeable hearing aids, and artificial intelligence for coping in complex listening situations are available.
Hearing aids can be trialled before purchasing, and they are always fitted following best practice guidelines including Real Ear Measures (REMs). Support is provided through the initial adjustment phase with follow ups where needed in order to help you adjust to them successfully. LBB Audiology will be with you throughout your hearing journey in order to assist you with maintaining your hearing aids and managing your changing hearing needs appropriately.
Tinnitus Evaluations
Tinnitus is a ringing, hissing or buzzing sound in the ears or head. It can range from a minor annoyance to a debilitating condition and can result in sleep disorders, depression or anxiety.
A tinnitus evaluation is performed to identify the type, severity and nature of the tinnitus perception. During the evaluation a thorough case history is performed, followed by a full audiological assessment. This assessment may include tests to quantify the tinnitus by matching its pitch, loudness and/or maskability. Management appropriate to the patient’s needs follows the evaluation.
Vestibular Assessment
Vestibular Assessment involves an evaluation of the balance system and how well it is functioning. At LBB Audiology, we use special eye lenses called Frenzel Lenses to test the Vestibulo-Occular Reflex, which tells us how well the vestibular organs are working in each ear. Comprehensive testing may result in referral to other health care practitioners for specific treatment or may lead to sessions or a home program of balance and dizziness preventing exercises.
Other Services
LBB Audiology believes in holistic and comprehensive hearing healthcare. For this reason we also recommend and provide custom hearing protection for your specific needs, as well as hearing aid accessories such as remote microphones and TV Streamers. We also offer community-based screening and informational talks at retirement villages, community groups, schools, and businesses. Contact us for more information or to arrange an event with your group.
